Change within the church

There has always been churches who were far from what most believe to be Christ's true teaching, and there most likely will be until he returns. But when the major denominations teach and preach things which are not true, it is far past time for the people to leave them.

We see almost all of them teaching hate and rejection not only from the pulpit, but on TV, radio, the internet and in books. Much of this hatred is directed toward muslims and the GLBT community. There are clearly some in each who live lives far from the life God's word tells us to live, but because some do evil deeds, all cannot be condemned for it.

No one condemns all Christians because of the evil deeds of a few. Yet they would condemn all gay men, not for deeds they have seen, but only heard of. And they do not have one wittiness to bring before the elders of their church!

With the muslims, can they be expected to live lives according to God's word, when they do not believe it? They have their own books they claim to be the truth. No matter how wrong those books are, can they be expected to do anything less then follow the teachings in them?

It has come to the place where many folks have walked away from the mainline churches. Some have found a new home in a local church or a smaller denominations. But others just walked out with no plan of ever returning.

We have seen some 'accepting churches' appearing across the states in the past 20-30 years. A few have grown large enough to form their own denomination. Still it is very possible to go too far in trying to accept folks as they are. Accepting people does not always mean accepting their deeds. But people cannot be condemned for deeds others only think they are doing.

There is a lot more to this, but a blog is not the place to be writing a book about it. No one needs to look very hard to see the churches busy spreading this hatred and rejection every day.
